FINE ARTS/DRAMA 8
This is an introductory course designed to expose students to acting skills. Many skills are introduced to enhance self-confidence and drama skills through games and skits. Mutual respect and trust are a big part of the grade 8 course.
Topics Include:
- Introductory acting skills
- Drama games to enhance learning
- Film studies
- Elements
- Creation of a short film in a small group
DRAMA 9 (elective)
Topics:
- Beginner skills in the roll of performer, audience, venue, movement, sound, image, form, and character development.
- Activities such as improvisation and games to enhance learning.
- Performing monologues, 2-person scenes, and group skits in front of the class.
- The essentials for planning a production and various roles needed.
- If there is sufficient skill development, students will also participate in a play.
DRAMA 10 (elective) 4 credits
Topics:
- Beginner skills in the role of the performer, audience, venue, movement, sound, image, form, and character development.
- Activities such as improvisation and gamed to enhance learning.
- Performing monologues, 2-person scenes, and group skits in front of the class.
- The essentials for planning a production and various roles needed.
- If there is sufficient skill development, students will also participate in a play.
DRAMA 11 AND 12 (elective) 4 credits
Topics:
- Intermediate to advanced skills in the roll of the performer, audience, venue, movement, sound, image, form, and character development.
- Activities such as improvisation and games to enhance learning.
- Memorizing lines and performing small skits in front of the class.
- Viewing various scripts for plays, and assigning roles for the production.
- Participation in a play including commitment to rehearsals and building the set.
