COMPUTER STUDIES 8
 
Students are introduced to computer basics. This includes both software and hardware systems. This is a good course for students wanting to take Information Technology 9/10.
 
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 9
 
This is a course which will start by giving student basic instruction in Media Arts and Programming. The objective of the course is familiarization with the concepts while giving the students as much license to be creative as possible. Students will work on the following:
  • Photoshop
  • Premiere (video editing)
  • After Effects (video effects)
  • Blender (3D modeling)
  • Programming (basic structures like if statements, loops, variable, arrays)
 
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (MINT 10)
 
This is a course which will start by giving students basic instruction in Computer Programming and 2d Media Arts. After basic instruction in each, students will choose which path they wish to pursue further, develop a plan for a major project and work to complete that project.
 
  • Computer Programming
      • This teaches the esentials of programming with if statements, loops, recursion, and object-oriented programming. Databases and the SQL language to access them will also be introduced.
      • Student projects have usually been games because they combine being fun and high interest with being quite challenging
  • 2D Media Arts
      • Photoshop - Learn to edit, combine, and improve photos using the premier photo editing software
      • Video Editing
      • Animation - Learn to make graphics move. Could be combined with programming in many interesting ways
  • 3D Media Arts
      • Work with Blender on static modelling with the opportunity to print final projects on a 3D Printer
 
INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY 11: DRONES 11-12
 
This course will teach students to use drones. The course will begin with:
  • Safety
  • General Flight Theory
  • Industry Research
  • Software Skills
  • Ethics
 
Once the weather turns nicer, (this course will run during the Spring Semester) students will fly drones with various objects in their flying, such as:
  • Mapping
  • Photography
  • Video
  • Surveying
  • Student Personal Objectives
 
ELECTRONICS & ROBOTICS 10
 
This course will offer the opportunity to learn about robots and robotics.
 
The course will teach:
  • Basics of how electronics work, including circuit construction
  • Block-based and/or logic-based coding
  • Sensor use
  • Relationships of power and motion
  • How robotics are used in industry
 
Students will participate in robotics challenges as part of their learning.
 
ROBOTICS 11
 
This course will offer the opportunity to learn about robots and robotics.
 
The course will teach:

  • Sensor use
  • Relationships of power and motion
  • How robotics are used in industry
 
Students will participate in robotics challenges as part of their learning.
 
MEDIA ARTS 9-10
 
This course will offer students the opportunity to learn skills in digital media.
 
Students will learn:
  • Graphic Design
  • Photoshop - Learn to edit, combine and improve photos using the premier photo editing software
  • Video Editing
  • Premiere - Learn to cut and splice projects and do basic video editing
  • After Effects - Learn to add visual effects to videos
  • 3D Modelling/Printing and Animation
  • Blender - Work on static modelling with the opportunity to print final projects on a 3D printer
  • Blender - Basic rigging and animation
 
Students start by working through the basics of each type of Media Art; when they are ready, they move on to choose projects which interest them.
 
MEDIA ARTS 11

MEDIA ARTS 12
 
Prerequisite: Media Arts 11
 
This course continues with the concepts and skills learned in Media Arts 11. Students will also be expected to design and implement projects of their choosing.
