The 2016-2017 Mountain Bike team members were: Cole Bender, Tye Clovis, Zach Paulson, Darien Price-Reed, Cameron Stewart, Avril Thom-Lucy, Skyler Tizya-Baker, Cormick Turner and Avery Wilson.
It was a long journey to get to Cumberland but definitely worth the trip. The students also had an opportunity to ride in the Whistler Bike Park a few days prior to the provincial championships to help build up some skills since they were not able to ride very much prior to the event due to our late spring. We took nine students to the Championships in Cumberland. Unfortunately, due to circumstances only four were able to complete all three stages of the races (allergic reactions, bruises, broken chain, hurt knee etc.) We are very proud of all of our students. They persevered throughout the event.
A special congratulation goes to Cameron Stewart who placed 13th out of 36 in the Enduro event for Grade 9 students. We would also like to thank Randy Stewart for driving the Shuttle Van, Burnt Bikes for donating the Shuttle Van and sponsoring the team jerseys and Burns Lake Community Forest for their generous donation to help the students offset the costs of going to Provincials. The team members would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Dubé for coaching, chaperoning and driving the mini‑bus.
